The interesting thing is when Ireland moved to the Euro, the prize money on their version of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' fell by about one-third.

At least it more or less would buy the same things.

Here's something you can do for fun - click on more currencies, type 10000000 in the Convert box, United Kingdom in the from this currency box and Zimbabwe Dollar in the to this currency box.

Look at the amount.

Wait a few minutes.

Click refresh.

Wonder how long Mugabe will stay in power in a country that's losing that much value, constantly.

Oops, meant that the other way around - 1000000 ZWD into UKP to find out how much it take you to become a Zimbabwe millionaire.

Which was fifteen pounds and 97.781 pence when I wrote that (20:29)

...

Now, at 20:31 it is: fifteen pounds, 97.506 pence.

Two more minutes and it's fifteen pounds, 97.484 pence.

p.s. and of course you'd need a bit more than that to actually become a millionaire, in order to pay for exchange fees.

That's frightening! although considering at least half of Zimbabwe is starving, exchange rate is probably the last thing on their mind...

For real horror stories look at this page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperinflation
Particular attention to Hungary after the Second World War (prices doubled every fifteen hours, and inflation was 4.19 x 10 to the power sixteen).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperinflation#Zimbabwe.2C_2000s
The US ambassador is expecting inflation to hit 1.5 million percent before 2008 (despite Mugabe declaring inflation illegal).
