punk rock on the radio
Close Up: The Real Story of Punk Rock is to be broadcast on the BBC World Service this upcoming Friday (no idea if that link will work, might just be a session-only link that breaks after a few minutes).
'ccording to the newspaper it'll feature interviews with Björk, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, Siousxie Sioux and Paul Morley. Pity it also has Malcolm McLaren presenting it really...

Well, that'll be nice: an impartial presentation of Malcomb McLaren's pivotal role in creating punk, and the sense of deep fulfilment that he gains from being a beacon of integrity in the cut-throat businesses of fashion, media and music.

The fact that he is presenting it immediately deters me from listening, because if I hear him say "when I invented punk" one more time I will be forced to hunt him down while he sleeps and nail him to stuff.

I quite like Mr McLaren in a love to hate him sort of way. He is quite a interesting character and lets be honest if it was not for him then the Sex Pistols (as we know them) would not have started, nor would have all the bands that followed that were influenced by them. That actually means quite possibly that Goth would not have started either.
